Alaska Fishing Halibut Lodge

A number of factors come into play when considering which Alaska Fishing Halibut Lodges you might want spend time at.  Obvious things such as price and accessibility come to mind but other not so obvious factors could make the difference between a good trip and a great trip.

Alaska Fishing Lodges are as different as night and day.  Some lodges are set up to cater to you every whim whereas others simply might give you a bed to sleep in and a few meals and you do all the rest.   The type of lodge that is best for you is basically determined by how much you want to have done for you versus how much you want to for yourself.

Even during the so called summer months Alaska’s weather can be unpredictable.  If you have never been to our state then you may want your first adventure to be a bit more regimented and organized.  This way you will have the guidance that you need to make your trip a memorable one.

I had once put a trip together with a group of friends where we were going to fly out to a remote lodge for 10 days which was 125 air miles from the nearest town.   On the flight to Alaska one of my friends said that he had forgot his cigars at home and had called his wife to have her UPS the cigars to the lodge for him,  needless to say he went through nicotine withdrawal that week.

On another remote adventure one of our friends said that he decided to purchase his adult libations at the store in the small town we were taking the float plane out of.  He was a bit surprised to find that a fifth of a bottom shelf adult beverage was going to cost him $90.

To help you determine what type of Alaska Fishing Halibut Lodge you want to consider find out the following about the lodges you are interested in:

  • Are you a remote lodge with limited or no access to a city or town during your stay
  • What type of waters do you fish,  open ocean or protected waters?
  • Do you clean and process the fish we catch?
  • Do you provide comfortable accommodations with bathroom facilities
  • Do you offer all meals, snacks and beverages
  • How many people do you host at your lodge at a time

The answers you get to these questions will help you determine if a particular lodge offers the type of adventure you are looking for.

Green Rocks Lodge is a “self guided” lodge that provides everything a fisherman needs to have a great time even if you have not been to Alaska before.  We provide you with all the boats, tackle and equipment you need along with providing you with a full service lodge.
