Check the weather for your trip
While this may be Alaska, that doesn’t mean you need to show up in winter gear. You need to have clothing that is suitable for the current weather if you want a successful fishing trip. Not only that, but you should also account for the wind. 60 degrees may not sound cold at first, but it will feel much colder when you’re out on the water with the wind blowing in your face.
Layer up (and down)
Layers are essential when going out for a fishing trip. Not only will multiple layers keep you warm, but they will also protect you from getting too wet. Additionally, if you get too warm, you can always take off layers as you need to. We recommend dressing in multiple, thin layers that are easy to take on and off.
Have the top layer be waterproof
Even if you’re fishing on a boat as opposed to the shore, you’ll still get wet while out fishing. The water is often much colder than the air, so it’s best to have a waterproof layer on top of everything else. This includes your boots and shoes.
